How is The Berger Energy Services Group connected to the Louis Berger Group?

The Berger Energy Services Group is an integral part of the Louis Berger Group, one of the largest multidisciplinary consulting organizations in the world. The Energy Services Group was formed in 1994. As a division, it has full access to all of Berger’s resources: overseas offices (more than 60); multidisciplinary staff (more than 2,000); extensive in-country contacts; and extensive financial assets (more than $200 million in annual sales).

What range of services does the Berger Energy Services Group provide?

The Berger Energy Services Group provides industry and agencies a complete suite of related products tailored for the energy industry. We prepare client and third party EA's and Environmental Impact Reports, and prepare and produce Shoreline Management Plans, including all their component elements. Berger has conducted and prepared over 1,000 environmental assessments and 1,200 cultural resource studies.

For the Gas and Electric Transmission Industries we provide a full range of feasibility studies, including cost analyses, permitting, scheduling, and vendor reviews. For international projects we provide review of permitting within the host countries and GIS based analyses of routing alternatives. The Berger Energy Services Group has provided clients with EA and EIS preparation and review for new pipeline construction as well as inspection services for on-going construction projects.

The Fossil Fuel Generating Group provides industry and agencies with a complete suite of products tailored for the fossil fuel industry. Most assignments involve public power providers as well as independent power producers.

What resources does the Energy Group have?

The Berger Energy Services Group has a full time staff of engineers, planners, biologists, scientists, archaeologists, and economists who specialize in Hydro Power and Energy issues. In conjunction with our affiliate, Berger Klohn Crippen, we also offer a full range of hydro engineering services.

Isn’t Louis Berger just an engineering firm?
No. The engineering services of Louis Berger account for about 60 percent of the company’s total billings. This means that about 40 percent, or more than $100 million in revenue, comes from non-engineering services.

Who are your primary clients?
One of our primary clients is the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. We also serve many private clients such as Duke Energy, Carolina Power and Light, American Electric Power, GenPower, Northeast Utilities, PG&E, and Puget Sound Energy.

What are your policies on staffing and managing projects?
Berger is committed to assigning a highly qualified and experienced project manager to each assignment, then providing him or her with the necessary corporate support to ensure that our clients and the project's needs are met.

What do the Louis Berger offices overseas provide?
Louis Berger has more than 60 offices overseas, which provide a number of services, including: contacts with ranking government officials; unique edge for hiring local staff easily and efficiently; and a good in-country understanding of constraints and opportunities facing public and other private sector organizations operating in the country.
