| Fossil Fuel Generation The Fossil Fuel Generating Group is a diverse team of engineers, scientists, biologists, cultural anthropologists, archaeologists, and planners. Our group works on power plant licensing and re-licensing projects worldwide. We provide permitting and approvals, economic needs analysis, market analysis and technical assistance programs for clients both nationally and internationally.
Recent Success Stories Berger is currently providing Competitive Power Ventures, Ltd. (CPV) with engineering and environmental support to site and permit four proposed natural gas-fired power plants in Florida. Each plant is a 250-megawatt combined-cycle plant, sited to accommodate expansion to 500 megawatts in anticipation of further deregulation allowing for size increases. For one plant, the Berger Energy Services Group undertook an alternatives assessment for water supply and wastewater discharge. The team considered supply quality and quantity, cycles of cooling tower concentration and discharge effluent quality limits. For each alternative, Berger also assessed time requirements for permitting and construction, relative costs and relative certainty of approval. Presently, two of the four power plants are in the final stages of permitting one is ready to file its required environmental studies, and one is in the feasibility stage. Fossil
