Hydropower and Water Resources

Berger's Hydropower and Water Resources services fall into four main areas: Hydro Relicensing; Hydro engineering Services; Recreation, Land Use, Cultural Studies; and Environmental Studies.

Hydro Relicensing
In addition to assisting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) with the review of license applications, Berger's Energy Services Group is involved with the preparation of license and re-license applications for utility companies. We have direct experience with preparing traditional license applications, applicant prepared Environmental Assessments (EAs), and third party EAs/and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs). Berger facilitates collaboration with stakeholders, designs and conducts studies, analyses data, negotiates with agencies and interest groups, and prepares applications. Berger's FERC expertise is exhibited in the FERC re-licensing handbooks that Berger has prepared. These are posted on the bergerenergy web site.

Hydroengineering Services
The Berger Energy Services Group's final design services include civil, mechanical, and electrical design for the redevelopment of generating stations and structural and mechanical designs for the rehabilitation of dams, spillways, and intake works. In addition, Berger staff has developed a design for controlling water leakage from older, large unlined intake/penstocks.
