Yangshan Deep Water Port
TDA and the Deepwater Port Administration

Shanghai is China’s largest city and busiest port after Hong Kong. To match the growth of the City and region, the municipal government decided to build what will be the largest container port in the world. The container terminals will be built in Phases at Yangshan Island, 30 km offshore in order to obtain sufficient draft for the largest container ships currently in service and planned.

To meet the stated goal of building the most advanced container port in the world and do so in the most cost-effective manner, Louis Berger in conjunction with Automated Terminal Systems of Washington DC has recommended the introduction of full automation at Yangshan.

To supplement this recommendation, the Berger Group produced a 15-minute promotional video mastered to DVD. The video needed to be simple enough for a non engineering audience to understand yet technical enough to detail the benefits of automation. An informative narrative coupled with simplified 3D animations and colorful illustrations achieved this objective.
