Building Partnerships for Global Water Initiatives

Currently, one in three Asians lacks access to potable water and more than half are not served by adequate wastewater treatment facilities. To assist Asian nations in addressing these concerns, the Berger Group organized the Asia Clean Water Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference, which included leaders, planners and public and private stakeholders from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, North Korea, South Korea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, encouraged dialogue on the latest funding options for water and sewer improvements and the application of innovative water conservation and treatment technologies. The conference also promoted institutional development and governance discussions. To facilitate dialogue the Team prepared a detailed project resource guide for attendees, identifying 25 successful water sector projects from participating nations and including the key technical, economic and financial elements which made these projects exceptional. The conference also encouraged Asian water resource administrators to build partnerships with U.S. and regional firms specializing in water related issues.
