The Berger Group has assisted Cambodia since 1994, providing planning, design and supervision of construction at Siem Reap International Airport and independent engineering services for the $110 million Phnom Penh International Airport Improvement. More recently, the Berger Group was selected by the Societe Concessionnaitre de l'Aeroport (SCA) to develop a multi-year maintenance program for runways at Siem Reap and Phnom Penh International Airports. Berger initiated the assignment by reviewing available data, including pavement and soils reports as well as traffic forecasts. The Team then developed alternative maintenance scenarios and a benefit-cost analysis to determine the most appropriate methods and materials for implementing a multi-year, periodic runway maintenance program. To further assist SCA, Berger introduced a modern pavement management system utilizing ASTM D 5340-98 testing standards and an advanced computer program, MicroPAVER, and conducted training sessions for SCA personnel in its operations.
