U.S. 64 Bypass Interchange, NC

The Berger Group's rapidly growing North Carolina office has recently undertaken a number of important bridge assignments. In Wake County, North Carolina, Berger completed the designs and final construction documents for the $25 million U.S. 64 Bypass Interchange with Wendell Falls Parkway, which included four bridges, a 252-foot, two-span, prestressed, dual, concrete structure over U.S. 64 and a 210-foot, three-span, prestressed, dual, concrete structure over Marks Creek. The interchange ties with the existing Knightdale-Eagle Rock Road and serves as the primary access route to the town of Wendell. Berger's duties included environmental documentation and planning, schematic designs, final designs and construction plans and administration. The Team also conducted field surveys and hydraulic investigations and produced base mapping of the corridor. The project features included bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, a full access-movement interchange, traffic signals, MSE walls and plans for future widening.
